One of their top clients that will be carrying the ilka Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 is The George in the affluent suburb of Esher, widely tipped as the next Michelin-rated restaurant. According to Alluvia’s proprietor Delarey Brugman, the success of the ilka Cabernet Sauvignon can be ascribed to a combination of exceptional terroir, good viticultural practices and the wine production team’s explorations of this noble variety. "Alluvia is located in a virtual amphitheatre high above Stellenbosch in the mountains of the Banhoek Valley and the combination of decomposed granite and Table Mountain sandstone with the fertile alluvial deposit presents a terroir well-suited to producing incredible wines. We constantly challenge the boundaries of traditional winemaking styles and I believe that ilka is a successful balance between the Old and New World approach to Cabernet."

True wine connoisseurs will appreciate the complete wine experience is encapsulated by every aspect of this meticulously crafted wine from the packaging to the taste. ilka Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 is a serious, robust red produced from Cabernet Sauvignon (94%) , Petit Verdot (3%) and Merlot (3%), which spent 16 months in new French oak. This deep ruby red wine features a spicy nose with dark, ripe plum flavours and oaky aromas. The wine lingers on the palate with an intense complexity perfectly balanced with a firm, yet elegant tannin structure.

The packaging reflects the elegance of the wine and groundbreaking techniques have been incorporated to manufacture a distinctive capsule. The capsules are produced exclusively in Spain using an innovative process, which allows different colours in the same capsule to reflect the different soil types captured by the brand colours.

Brugman has been adamant in making wines that reflects his family’s lifestyle and philosophy. "Five years ago I gave up my big-city business, so that my children could grow up in the countryside.
