Wine Match
This weeks wine hails from the head of the Banhoek Valley where you’ll find the Alluvia wine estate.
Estate owner Delarey Brugman and his wife Sandie started the Give me a Chance Trust in 2004 to benefit high potential students from Kylemore Secondary School in the valley. The Give me a Chance Trust 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon was carefully crafted by Delarey and winemaker Chris Kelp for the benefit of the Trust.
Deep garnet colour, it has remarkable viscosity. Cassis note dominate on the nose with a hint of black cherries.
It has burst of red berries on the palate, with a prominent line of acid: Faint undertones of lead pencil are evident. Staved rather than barrel matured, the oak is remarkably prominent, tannins are gripping and it has pleasing fruit.
